Some embroidery that I've been working on. I'm not too sure if I like it or not. The embroidery isn't really bright enough.

More snowmen. By the amount of snow men I have in my collection one might think I like winter. Yeah, I don't.

My contribution for Doll Quilt Swap #5
It's a really dreary day here so getting a decent picture was harder than it usually is. I like taking my pictures outside where I can get lots of natural light. I think that there's a setting or something on my camera for inside or night pics. Guess I'll have to go through the owners manual again....sigh.
This is my finished doll quilt for DQS #5. I really like it and would be happy to keep it if it weren't being sent to my swap partner. Hope she likes it.

embroidered felt flower and leaf
I've been working on this off and on for a couple of days now. I like it.
edit: this piece now resides on a hat making it look very stylish.
wip back of felted and embroidered wool heart
The back of the heart. Forgot to mention that I was inspired by some of Amiee Ray's embroidered designs.

A project that I've been working on. Think that this will be added into the package that I plan on sending my sister for Christmas. Have to add stuffing and a hanger and then finish the blanket stitching around the edges.

beginnings of a doll quilt
Here's the beginnings of my doll quilt for the Doll Quilt Swap #5. I decided not to use that particular striped fabric although I loved it, because in my haste I cut it wrong. I wanted the stripes to radiate out from the center. I used a different fabric and I think that I actually like it better. Pictures coming soon. I really hope that my swap partner will like my color choice. She said earth tones and I have always interepted earth tones this way. You know, blues, greens, some shades of browns and reds and oranges.
embroidered fabric heart
This sweet little felted wool and emboidered heart is for a swap that I signed up for through a site called swap-bot.com . I hope that she'll like it. I really like it and would happily keep it for myself; that's how I gage how good something is that I've made.

Another miniature quilt pattern I found while surfing this evening. I like this one because it's a scrap quilt and there's just something about scrap quilts.

Been looking for miniature quilt patterns for the current Doll Quilt Swap. I used to have a ton of miniature quilting magazines but, a few months ago I had decided that I probably wasn't going to be making any more quilts ever again so I gave them all to Goodwill.

Friday Evening
The end of a rather long week. I haven't felt well at all this week. Doctor's appointment next week. See if we can get to the bottom of this.
I'm sitting here watching Iron Man with my family. My son insisted I watch it with the family for "family time." The movie isn't too bad so far.
I still plan on sewing at least a little bit this weekend. Tomorrow I've got a PocketBook Party to attend. I doubt that I'll be up to staying too long. But I have no doubt that I'll have a good time while I'm there.

Thursday Evening
Well, it's been a few days since I've posted but, I haven't been idle. Unfortunately I don't have photos to prove it but that doesn't change the fact that I've made two purses and given them away. I cut and sewed up a pair of flannel pj bottoms, leopard print. Makes me giggle every time I look at them and they are very comfy. I cut out another pair of pj bottoms from lavender flannel. Haven't sewn them up yet but I will before the week is done.
I found this really neat site called http://www.swap-bot.com/ and they have tons of different kinds of swaps and I signed up for two. The first one which I'll be sending out tomorrow was for 5" charms of 20 different fabrics. Each swapper gets 2 partners. The other one is for a handmade fabric heart and my contribution for the swap will be finished this weekend probably. And then finally, I signed up for a doll quilt swap. That one is going to be fun. Although I am a little nervous that I won't measure up as a swap partner. But I'll get over it and have fun.
All in all a fairly productive couple of weeks. Hopefully the next couple of weeks will be just as productive.

Doll Quilt
A doll quilt that I scored from a local flea market. The fabrics look to be from the 40's. Maybe? But the battting feels like a polyester batting. Can't really tell unless I take a corner of it apart and that's just not gonna happen. I like it no matter what it's made or stuffed with.

nifty catch it all bag
I've been making these bags lately. I think that they must be addictive.
They are so easy that I just can't stop. I mean these little buggers were taking over my work space; so I did what had to be done, I gave a lot of them new homes.

New Tote
A brand new tote that I just finished last night. Good way to end the month of August.
I made this from a pattern by Quiltsillustrated.com. It's called the Weekender Tote and was designed by Penny Sturges.
It took me just a couple of days to finish it; in between everything else that was going on. It wasn't terrribly hard either. I enjoyed making it enough that I'm already planning another one.

Friday evening
End of the first week back. Wow! Is it hard to go back to getting up at o dark thirty. Got a three day weekend in front of me and I'm gonna sew up the purse that I cut out on Tuesday. Hopefully it won't take that long, because I want to make a couple of acesssories to use with the purse.

Wednesday evening
Second day back at work and first day with our students. Six in all. It's going to be an interesting year; just like every year is. This job is tiring sometimes, but I really enjoy it. I never thought that I be doing this same job now for...let's see, this is the beginning of my 6th year here. Hopefully this weekend I'll feel like doing my sewing and crafts. I have been drawing though, drawing is very portable and easy to carry the few supplies I need for it in my purse.

Tuesday Evening
Well, went back to work this morning and the all staff meeting was just as boring as I expected. Good thing a person can't die from boredom, 'cause surely it would have happened today.

Monday Evening and end of summer vacation....
While summer isn't officially over yet, it is for me. It's back to work tomorrow. While I am awfully glad that I'll be back to having a bi-weekly paycheck again; I'll miss the fairly care free days of summer. No more sleeping in or staying up later than usual. What I'm concerned, ok worried, the most about, is will I still feel like doing all the sewing and painting and other crafting that I've been doing this summer. Or will I be too tired to. Hopefully not, 'cause I have enjoyed being so creative this summer. And I think that I feel so much better when I can be creative.

Monster Beneath the Bed
A watercolor that I just did today. It's one of my favorites; I think because it takes me back to my childhood.
Sunday Afternoon
Pictures from yesterdays shopping at the Chicken Coop and my seeming sewing frenzy. I decided that today I was going to paint one of my watercolors and that is posted to the left also.
A wonderful summer day here at One Crow Hill. Not too hot. Just perfect with a lovely breeze.

Saturday evening
The past few days have been busy for me. DH has been on vacation and I have been sewing and sewing. It's like I'm driven to sew as much as I can before I go back to work on Tuesday. I plan on taking pictures tomorrow of all the things I've finished.
I went to the Chicken Coop this morning and got a great deal on a ton of old buttons. Many of which are mother of pearl. I also got a darling pair of vintage sterling silver earrings. They are really quite pretty. Again, pictures tomorrow.
We (DH and I) have had one of the children here this weekend that we do respite care for. We have been doing that for the past few years; either for this child or one of his siblings. We will take him home tomorrow afternoon.
We've, meaning my son, lost the key to the garage again. I really don't know what it is about that darn key; I mean, it's been "lost" so many times before but, this time it looks like it's really lost.
Hopefully we'll either find it or get a new key before we need the snowblower. Hey, I know it's only August now, but before we know it, it'll be November.

Sunday afternoon
Last night I made such a cute little catch it all from a pattern I got from Bee Creative Studio. Says right on the front of the pattern that it's quick and easy. Took me a little more than an hour to finish it and of course it's not perfect, but, I finished it!!!! Yay!!! Pictures to the left.
At our house right now we have a company here that's removing all the junk that we've gathered over the years. You know broken lawn mowers, debris from a home improvement projects, broken tv's, microwaves, all the stuff that our son left in our garage when he moved to Texas and the list goes on and on. Now maybe we can use the garage for its intended purpose.

Saturday morning...
I made another purse. Another 'grab bag' from allpeoplequilt.com. This purse is a rich, chocolate brown, faux silk with a hot pink lining. The inside pockets I changed a little from the pattern. Since I am an artist and I like to carry my sketching with me; I made several slender pockets to accommodate some pencils and pens. I plan on making another one, but that purse will have even deeper pockets to keep everything more secure. Now, if I made it the size of a suitcase, it would be perfect, hmmmm........

Thursday
Today I completed a project. A purse, called a Grab Bag. I got the pattern for it at allpeoplequilt.com. I'm rather pleased with how this little purse turned out and it was fun and easy enough that I think I may make another one. It's only drawback, if indeed this actually is a drawback, is it's size. It's quite small, for me at least. I usually carry around something that resembles a suitcase in size.
